    Reflecting on 2017

This year has been absolutely incredible, so much has happened that I never dreamed would and I couldn’t be more thankful! So I thought I’d list my favourite 5 things that have happened this year. 1. Fitness 💪🏻 Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have never been into sport or fitness, or at least wasn’t until January. I made the same New Years Resolution as everyone else – this will be the year I get fit. But this time, I actually meant it and to aid this I changed gyms. I previously went to a council run gym where the classes didn’t really fit in with my…

There are lots of great websites out there that can help you build upon your coding skills, and a great one I have come across recently is codebashing. Codebashing helps you combat security flaws in your code, which I think is great as security isn’t a topic covered in a lot of online tutorials. The site helps you learn about the current OWASP Top 10 application and security risks and how to help mitigate these, which it does through a game-like format. It also covers code vulnerability, how your code can be exploited and steps you can take to defend against these. For example, it will show you what vulnerable code looks…

    First Hack Day Thoughts

The idea of having a small group of people depending on everyone to have a certain skill set was a lot of pressure, that until recently I didn’t think I could cope with. Thankfully this event was nothing large scale, it was just hosted by the overall team I work in. And shockingly… I loved every second. Each team was made up of 3-4 people which and we had a set of around 6 products we could pick from to…

    Code First:Girls Conference 2017

“We want you to leave exhausted and inspired!” A few weeks ago I attended the CFGConf at Twitter UK HQ, and it was one of the best, and as promised, one of the most inspiring conferences I have ever attended! Not only did the talks address upcoming issues, such as the ethics of Artificial Intelligence and the rise of drones, but also positive online presence and building your own brand, which are topics that are generally overlooked, so it was brilliant to discuss those topics. This was my second CFG event, and like the first, they never seem to fail on delivering motivational events, and opening individuals up to meeting…
