As you may recall from my Relaxing Seaside Weekend blog post I mentioned it was recently my boyfriend Tom’s birthday.
He planned out what we were going to be doing on his actual birthday as we were around 80 miles away from where we live, however the weekend afterwards it was my turn to surprise him! It was so difficult not telling him what we were doing!
For his surprise we visited Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for the day and we both loved it!
I had planned two stops for us, one at Ingrow and the other in Haworth. To get to each of these places we travelled by steam train!
Due to the amount of times we travelled on it, we go to see it pulling the carriages back to Keighley station which was quite a sight!
The train station at Keighley felt exactly like we had stepped back in time! The old station signs were up, there were some wartime posters and advertisements from across the decades! It was incredible to experience, and when the train pulled into the station it really completed the experience!
Our first stop on the train was Ingrow, which takes around 6 minutes on the train from Keighley, and to the Railway Story museum.
It was awesome visiting there, as they had trains and carriages actively being restored in the sheds and we got to see some carriages that featured in famous films!
However I think one of Tom’s highlights from the museum was finding a train version of me! It was called Tiny!
We then went back to the steam train and made our way into Haworth where we planned to have lunch.
When we got off the train we were met with a vintage green bus that was waiting to take us up to Haworth main street!
This added a bit of extra magic to the day as this was something I didn’t know was running so I never planned it into the day. It was a lovely and welcome surprise!
In Haworth we had lunch at the Kings Arms pub – I highly recommend this pub, speedy service and delicious food!
When we’d done all of this it was time to head back to the train station for the next train back.
We were both sad it was time to leave but we’ve made some more amazing memories and we’re already planning to visit again!
