What is Calm?
Calm is an app that provides meditation techniques for sleep, anxiety and stress reduction.
It has 4 key features that you can use:
On the app there are daily meditations (which always spookily seems to fit in with how I am feeling!), as well as targeted meditations, sleep stories, calming spa like music, masterclasses in certain areas and emergency anxiety meditation exercises
You can download it free on the app store and a years subscription costs around £40.
Why download Calm?
Calm has actually changed my life for the better.
Before downloading Calm I was suffering from sporadic panic attacks and I was feeling highly anxious about nearly every situation. Not forgetting stressed, but I can’t remember a time of late where I haven’t felt stressed.
I decided to try Calm as I remembered that Zoella had mentioned it on one of her videos a while ago and thought I would give it a try.
I completed the seven day free trial and I already found a huge improvement regarding my mental wellbeing. As my family had even noticed this change, my mum treated me to the full year subscription, and I can honestly say I think it was one of the best things anyone bought for me last year.
Fast forward a year and I no longer have panic attacks (disclaimer: I’m not suggesting Calm fixes anything, my panic attacks just seemed to go away) and the daily meditations which I do every morning when I wake up seemed to change my headspace in a very positive way for the day ahead.
It even helped with my nightmares. Around April time I had three weeks of consecutive nightmares, and as you can imagine, I became quite sleep deprived. To combat this I started listening to Sleep Stories every night, and I haven’t had a nightmare since. It lulls you to sleep beautifully.
